About the course

Part-time 18 months

If you want to be a primary school teacher and you've already got a relevant foundation degree or similar level 5 qualification, this course allows you to 'top up' to a full Honours degree. Successful completion of the programme also means you'll be recommended for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Usually taught on Tuesday evenings, the course is a mix of lectures, workshops and tutorials. You'll tackle a combination of academic and practical elements - including two assessed school placements. You'll be required to spend at least 120 days in a school.

If you require a Tier 4 student visa to study or if your first language is not English you will be required to provide acceptable evidence of your English language proficiency level.

This course requires IELTS 6.0 overall, with no less than 5.5 in each skill. For other English language proficiency qualifications acceptable by this University, please click here.

Future prospects

On successfully completing this course, you'll be recommended for the award of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Obtaining QTS allows you to take up a teaching post.
