About the course
This new course has been designed with a predominantly clinical focus in collaboration with local NHS trusts and Hull is one of a select few higher education institutions offering ODP at degree level. Operating Department Practice students spend 60% of their time caring for patients before, during and after surgery on clinical placements; and 40% studying on campus.
ODPs predominantly work in the operating theatre environment, although their transferable skills, knowledge base and expertise are utilised in a broad range of critical care areas such as intensive care units or on resuscitation teams. Through the academic dimension of the course, you will gain key, valuable theoretical skills which you will apply in a working environment.
How will the planned funding changes affect me?
From 2017/18, NHS bursaries for students will no longer be available on this course. Instead, you will be able to apply for a student loan to support your studies. To find out more about how this will affect you, please click here for full details.
