About the course
This qualification is designed for learning support workers within primary and secondary education, community education, further education and extended school provision. In each year there are four modules of study, each worth 20 credits, making a total of 12 modules. You will study in a variety of locations, enjoying 30 hours of formal staff contact time per module. You will also enjoy flexible forms of learning such as independent study, online study and work-based learning.
For this course you will need the support of your employer or training officer and someone who is available to act as your workplace mentor. After completion of this Foundation Degree, you may choose to progress to the BA (Honours) degree in Learning and Teaching, Primary Education or in Education and Learning, or the BA (Honours) Early Childhood Education and Care. The primary education route will provide Qualified Teacher Status (QTS); for this route, you will need the required GCSE grades and to be successful at interview.
