Students who pass the foundation year can continue with the BA Business Management course or transfer to any of the BA or BSc awards within the programme cluster or to related clusters (Marketing, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Accounting, Financial Management, Business Economics, International Business).

BSc (Hons) with a Year Abroad

You'll spend year a studying at one of our partner institutions in Europe, Asia, North America or Australia. It's an outstanding opportunity to broaden your horizons in a different culture and environment, learn new skills and develop valuable international contacts while continuing your studies.

BSc (Hons) with an Industrial Placement

A fantastic opportunity to gain valuable skills and experience while you earn. Spend a year working in industry – gaining experience, creating contacts and developing your employability. Our professional experience programme provides the opportunity to work with companies like IBM, Boots, BP, Microsoft UK, PricewaterhouseCoopers and the Walt Disney Company.

About the course

This joint degree focuses on the main themes of economics and accounting, enabling you to gain an in-depth understanding of both financial and management accounting and build skills in economic analysis. You'll study under research-active experts in our state-of-the-art business school, which has international accreditation from AACSB (held by fewer than 5% of business programmes worldwide). You can also boost your employability through the option of an extra year of professional experience, often with a top global business. Or you could spend a year studying at one of our partner institutions in Europe, Asia, North America or Australia.

You'll develop your knowledge of contemporary accountancy, so that you graduate ready to pursue a career in accounting. Entry requirements

Foundation Year entry requirements:

  • The foundation year is designed for applicants whose qualifications and experience do not allow direct entry to the undergraduate degree.
  • We expect applicants to demonstrate an experience of a related subject and an aptitude for academic work which may be determined by an essay and/or interview alongside the application.
  • For applicants with A levels in subjects other than those key to the degree, we will usually require a minimum of 80 points from Level 3 qualifications.

International students

If you require a Tier 4 student visa to study or if your first language is not English you will be required to provide acceptable evidence of your English language proficiency level.
