About the course

With more schools teaching programming and information technology than ever before – a BSc in Computer Science with Teacher Training means you’ll be in high demand after graduation.  Not only will you gain in-depth knowledge and skills in computer science – but you’ll be fully prepared for a career in teaching, introducing young people to the basics of computing, through to brand new programming languages.

Our degrees are accredited by the British Computer Society (BCS), meaning you gain full exemption from the BCS’s Professional Examination as well as partial Chartered Engineer accreditation. This is the highest BCS award that undergraduate courses can achieve.

Future prospects

A degree in Computer Science with Teacher Training gives you the skills and knowledge to be a specialist computing teacher at secondary level. Record numbers of students are opting to take computing subjects at GCSE level, so you’ll be in demand after graduation.

There are also opportunities for graduates to undertake research, leading to an MSc or PhD, or both. Current research interests of our staff include dependable systems, intelligent systems and simulation and visualisation.
